Parent and Child Counseling Services

Parent-Child Counseling

Family therapy is the context for much of the clinical work done at Child and Family. Play therapy, groups and individual counseling are also used to help a family strengthen itself. Coordination with schools and other agencies is a significant part of the service.

Intensive Family Preservation & Reunification Services

This program is designed to resolve situations in which one or more children are in danger of being removed from their parents. The program also serves families where there is a plan for a reunification/return to the home following an out-of-home placement. Based on a psycho-educational-behavioral approach, the goal is to prevent the out-of-home placement of children and to teach families new skills to prevent future crises.

Foster and Support Team (FAST) is a home-based program designed and stabilize foster and adoptive families so that children can live in safe, stable homes with minimal disruption.

Victimization Counseling

Treatment for the victims of sexual and physical abuse and their families is a major service at Child and Family Agency.

Intensive In-Home Therapy Services

Child and Family Agency's Functional Family Therapy Program, Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS), and Family Support Team (New London County only) serve young people with serious mental health issues. The agency's Integrated Family Violence Program provides intensive in-home services to New London County families who have experienced domestic violence. In all of these services, the amount of weekly face-to-face work with the child or teen and family is adjusted to meet family needs.

Diagnostic and Evaluation Services

A full range of psychiatric, psychological and psychosocial assessment services are available to children and their families.

Consultation Services

On a contracted basis, Child and Family Agency provides clinical and program and clinical supervision to several agencies, public and private schools, as well as several child care centers.
