Your Membership Makes A Difference!

Child and Family Agency has over 600 members in six auxiliaries located in Essex, Lyme/Old Lyme, East Lyme, New London, Groton, and Mystic/Noank/Stonington. The group has grown from twelve women who had organized to aid the Agency and its work in 1944. Our members are a diverse group of men and women who give generously of their time and talent through caring for children, fundraising events and educational services to further the mission of the Agency.

The purpose of the Auxiliaries is to raise funds for Child & Family Agency; to support the policies and goals of the Agency; to educate the community regarding the purposes and goals of Child & Family; and, to support legislation that will benefit all children and their families.

Fundraisers include: women’s day, designer show houses, kitchen tours, holiday house tours, garden tour, holiday boutiques, annual spring tag sale, our "Charted Courses" cookbook and two annual golf tournaments.

Our Internet book store -- The Book Closet -- and our used book store -- Charity Books --  are both organized and operated by auxiliary volunteers.

Auxiliary Membership

Membership in an Auxiliary is open to anyone who is interested in supporting the work of Child & Family Agency. Membership carries with it an obligation to pay dues, to actively and financially support Child & Family fund raising projects and to attend Auxiliary meetings. All members may vote and hold office.

Reading to children, cooking with children in after school programs, tutoring, rocking babies, and creating "Story Stretches" for children literacy programs are just some of the "hands-on" ways to get involved. Our mission is "all about children." We encourage and welcome new members. Meetings are throughout the year.

Membership Categories

1. ACTIVE: Members whose donation of volunteer hours provides the main support of Agency and Auxiliary fund raising events. Attendance at auxiliary meetings is expected.

2. BENEFACTOR: Members who contribute financial support annually and who will donate volunteer hours to Agency and Auxiliary fund raising events at their discretion.

3. PATRON: Members who contribute financial support annually.

4. LIFE MEMBER: Members who make a significant one-time contribution.

5. HONORARY MEMBER: Members who are recognized by the Auxiliary and Agency for their extraordinary contributions to the organization.
