Child Development Services
Comprehensive Development Services to Families
The Smith-Bent Children's Center in New London
and the Early Childhood Development Center in Groton, provide a base for
Child and Family Agency’s early childhood efforts. From these facilities
medical, mental health, childcare, and social services are available to
children birth to six years and their families.
Based at Smith-Bent Children's Center is the Connections program, which works with early childhood
providers in New London to improve the quality of childcare services
including the
transition to kindergarten for young children and their families. Helping Hands
provides New London families and early childhood providers
with a support system for children with challenging
behaviors.
Family Resource Centers
In
collaboration with the New London and Groton Public Schools, Child
and Family Agency operates three Family Resource Centers. A partial list
of those services includes Parents as Teachers, Parents
Building Stronger Communities (PBSC);
support and training for child care providers; positive youth
development activities
and referral services.
Child Care Services
 The
New London Day Nursery, founded in 1906 and currently located at the
Smith-Bent Children's Center provides child care to 52 children ages
6-weeks to 6-years. Each day
The Early Childhood Development Center at
Poquonnock Road in Groton provides care to 38 children ages 6-weeks to 5
years.
Our Early Head Start program for infants and
toddlers provides child care and home-based support for 32 families
living in Middlesex County.
The B. P. Learned Mission provides
after-school and vacation care to 60 children in grades K through 5. In
addition, the Mission works with multiple community agencies to provide
a variety of enrichment activities to enrolled children as well as
support services to the entire community. |
